Beya Gille Gacha is a multidisciplinary artist, born to a Cameroonian mother and a French father. In 2011 she entered the Ecole du Louvre where she developed her sensitivity to classical African, Indo-European, Asian, Atlantic, and Oceanian arts. She sees her artistic practice as an engagement from an intersectional perspective. In 2018, she exhibited twice under the curation of Simon Njami: at the Galleria Nazionale in Rome for the exhibition Io è un Altro / I is another, and then during the Kampala Biennale # 3 in the studio of Pascale Marthine Tayou. In May 2019, her work was on display at the Salon Révélations at the Grand Palais (Paris) alongside artist Barthelemy Toguo. She has also exhibited at international events such as 1-54, AKAA, West Lake Art Fair, Manifesta # 12, etc. In July 2019, she participated in the first edition of the International Sculpture Biennial of Ouagadougou (BISO), where she won first prize (Leridonprize) nominated by a jury composed of Abdoulaye Konaté, Soly Cissé, Barthelemy Toguo, and Gervanne Leridon. Currently, her work is part of the acquisitions of important institutions such as the Smithsonian Museum of African Art and the World Bank, as well as private collections such as the Léridon collection (Cape Town, Paris), Imago Mundi by Luciano Benetton (Treviso). In 2022, she exhibited at the Musée du Quai Branly and the Maif Social Club in Paris, and was one of the 59 artists selected for the 14th edition of the Dakar Biennale.
